BCSS Victoria to Assist in Saanich Police Training
The report of the Braidwood Inquiry, which looked into the death of Robert Dziekanski at the Vancouver Airport in October 2007, has recommended that all police members in the province receive training to better respond to people in mental health crises. BCSS Victoria has been asked to assist by providing speakers with lived experience of mental illness and family members to present at 10 sessions over the next several months. The training, done through our Partnership Presentation Program, provides an exciting opportunity to improve the community response to people with mental illness.
