BCSS Victoria offers support groups for family and friends of people with a mental illness.
All support groups are offered free of charge. No referral or registration is required. If you would like to speak with someone about which group is best for you please feel free to contact us. Check the Meeting Schedule link on the upper right of this page to find out when groups meet. All meetings are held at the BCSS Victoria office, 941 Kings Road.
This group provides a monthly forum to discuss themes common to people who have a loved one with a mental illness. We meet from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on the second Thursday of the month.
This group meets monthly on the last Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 pm to provide an opportunity for participants to address the unique issues facing people who currently have a partner with a mental illness.
This group for supporters of young people experiencing early onset psychosis (psychosis, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia) meets on the third Saturday of the month from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Facilitated by clinicians from the VIHA Early Psychosis Intervention Program and BCSS Victoria Family Counsellor, meetings provide information about mental illness, treatment, recovery and community resources. Participants have an opportunity to gain support from others in similar situations.
